## Research Context

This kernel is used for the **KALYPSO-NA (or KALYPSO-HYDROLOGY)** module of the software platform [KALYPSO](https://sourceforge.net/projects/kalypso/). It simulates the rainfall-runoff process and the complete land-based water cycle, including the following subprocesses:

* snow storage
* evapotranspiration
* soil water storage
* groundwater recharge
* surface runoff
* soil interflow
* groundwater discharge
* wave formation in channels

It is a **conceptual, deterministic, and detailed hydrological model**, suitable both for process analysis and for flood forecasting in operational use.

## Installation

1. Install the latest release of KALYPSO from [https://sourceforge.net/projects/kalypso/](https://sourceforge.net/projects/kalypso/).
2. Manually add the *Kalypso HYDROLOGY / NA kernel* to the installation folder:

   ```
   <Kalypso installation folder>/bin
   ```
3. Copy the library `libiomp5md.dll` into the Java runtime directory, e.g.:

   ```
   C:\Kalypso_20.3.0.20200408\jre\bin
   ```
