The measurement of the surface in order to determine the geometric imperfections was also carried out there utilising an ATOS system from GOM. The given geometric imperfection data is provided on the twelve excel-sheets in the form of Fourier coefficients of a double Fourier series in phase shift representation. The circumferential mode is described by full waves, the axial modes by a half-wave representation. In order to be able to map imperfections in the boundary zones of the shells, the cosine approach is taken. Purpose und Method Geometric imperfections are one of the major factors influencing the buckling load of thin-walled cylindrical shells. In order to enable the validation of FE models and possible new design approaches, these are provided here. The shells were manufactured at DLR in Braunschweig and also measured there in a clamped setup using an ATOS measuring system from GOM. The Fourier coefficients given here were calculated from an equidistant point mesh of the ATOS measurement. Access and terms of use The data is free to use. Please cite this data set.
