Description of the data set: The dataset contains the experimental data analyzed in the creators' article titled "Bilateral communication in procurement auctions", DOI: 10.1002/mde.4166. The data has been generated in a controlled laboratory experiment in which subjects play a buyer-determined procurement auction game with sealed bids, independent private costs, and moral hazard. The sessions were conducted at the Essen Laboratory for Experimental Economics (elfe), University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, using z-Tree (Fischbacher, 2007). The subjects were students of different disciplines recruited using ORSEE (Greiner, 2015). Structure of the data set: Each observation in the data set is a bid made, irrespective of whether a particular bid was selected by the in the auction, while a buyer was matched with two bidders in each period.
