Applications of AI in distribution system operation

Due to the transition in energy systems, the integration of distributed generation and changing load behavior, distribution grids gain more attention. The original grid structure is not designed for such an additional stress as well as the bidirectional power flow. To keep the costs low, the operation concepts are optimized in the first place, but this is also a difficult task due to the lack of measurement systems. Hence, the implementation of conventional techniques from transmission systems is complicated. That leads to possible applications for Artificial Intelligence techniques. In this research field different techniques for application of Artificial Intelligence for assessment and control of distribution systems are developed. Therefore, multiple simulation and development environments are used for testing.
