This paper presents investigations with specimens of sulphur-linked natural rubber concerning effects of ageing, preload and ozone on mechanical fatigue life. In service, rubber parts often are exposed to these influences, therefore fatigue life may be affected. Especially for natural rubber, this aspect is very important because this material is very susceptible to ageing and ozone effects. Thus, impacts of thermal ageing and ozone in interaction with mechanical loads have been investigated to broaden knowledge regarding their effects and interdependencies.Well-known approaches can be confirmed and extended. Additionally, new aspects have been found.
