Three partners cooperating on a research project have developed a new mold concept for particle-foam processing that yields a 95 % weight saving and a substantial reduction in steam consumption. Additive manufacturing creates an optimized mold that does not require a steam chamber and enables complex parts to be made with substantially shorter cycle times and significant energy savings.
