Small-signal stability analysis methods, such as eigenvalue-based or impedance-based approaches, play a major role in the evaluation of system stability in converter-dominated systems. As part of these methods, linearization around an operating point is required. However, especially in larger-scale systems, identifying the operating point is increasingly challenging. In this paper, we present a load-flow-based method for fully initializing system states at the operating point. We extend the load-flow equations for the most relevant types of converters, both grid-following and grid-forming, and present a procedure to determine all system states from the results obtained by load-flow equations. Finally, we show that the load-flow-based approach successfully identifies the operation point of a six bus system with a high share of converters.
