Common six-port based measurement systems consist of the passive six-port structure and four power detectors to generate the baseband signals. This paper introduces an alternative mixer based solution, which enhances the dynamic range of the system and simplifies the RF design due to a lower overall footprint. Furthermore, a distance measurement setup at 24 GHz will show the feasibility of the proposed system reaching accuracies in the range of a few micrometers.
