Titanium parts are becoming more and more important, e.g. in aerospace industry or medical engineering. This is due to the specific material properties such as strength, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. Additive manufacturing processes like laser based powder bed fusion allow net-shape production of parts with efficient use of titanium material. Due to the non-equilibrium solidification after melting, it is necessary to carry out a subsequent heat treatment. In this paper different strategies and results for an adapted heat treatment of Ti-6Al-4V parts are given. Beside the heat treatment, the influences of surface roughness and powder properties on tensile and fatigue properties were investigated as well.
