The phased array proposed in this paper is for dual-band operation at the K- and Ka-bands and supports two orthogonal linear polarizations in both bands. Transmitting (TX) and receiving (RX) elements are combined in a single planar aperture, resulting in a compact and highly integrated setup. Eight single-band TX and eight dual-band RX/TX microstrip patch antennas (MPA) alternate on a rectangular grid with a lattice constant of half a free-space wavelength at 30 GHz. The latter are self-diplexing to avoid additional diplexers. The phased array is realized in standard printed circuit board (PCB) technology with eight layers. The -10dB reflection bandwidth covers 0.5 GHz at K-band and 1.4 GHz at Ka-band. The EIRP reaches 6.5 dBW and the maximum G/T is -16.5 dB/K.
