Make-to-order companies have to deal with uncertainties while processing their offers. In the early phase of offer planning, it is uncertain (1) which open offers will be accepted by customers and (2) what capacities the resulting orders will require. Therefore, it is particularly challenging to determine realistic delivery times and to promise them bindingly. The model-based order acceptance and scheduling procedure allows to determine realistic delivery times with the help of early available information and by using the throughput diagram. An extensive evaluation of the procedure shows that it can effectively and robustly support logistical target achievement.
