Wissen schafft Innovation (2020)
Without question schedule reliability currently dominates amongst the logistic targets in operations management. High schedule reliability represents trustworthiness and has a positive impact on the corporate success. However, many companies struggle to achieve high schedule reliability. Schedule reliability is determined by two factors: backlog and sequence deviation. This work shows how sequencing can damp the effect of input sequence deviations. First, it is shown how the output sequence deviation can be modelled for one work station. The second step is to expand the model to a complex material flow with several workstations. An extensive simulation study investigates and verifies the high quality of the developed model. Finally, the application of the model at two different companies confirms its practicality.
