Decisions that are made in the early stages of the PGE-Product Generation Engineering have a strong impact on the quality, the costs and the time needed for the new products to be developed. Thus, they contribute a lot to their success (Pache et al. 2001; Jahn und Binz, 2009). Nevertheless, this stage is also marked by poor structuring and decision uncertainty (Verworn et al., 2005). The use of foresight represents a methodical approach to extract future knowledge (Albers et al. 2018). However, the transfer of future knowledge in product engineering is still not used sufficiently to this day (Albers et al., 2018). This work presents a system based on foresight which allows a development and validation of products with a long-term time horizon for several generations. The study in the Live-Lab IP - Integrierte Produktentwicklung (IPD-integrated product development) and the following interview with the involved method engineers verify an improved connection between future scenarios and product engineering.
