An innovative therapy for the treatment of osteochondral defects which is currently under development is the in vitro generation of cartilage-carrier-constructs from autologes cells. After further development of the cultivation protocol using porcine chondrocytes the effect of intermittent hydrostatic pressure during the cultivation of these constructs in special bioreactors was investigated.
