Lean vertical range of manufacture, increasing product versions and high integration of OEM parts in industrial production systems lead to high demands on spare parts distribution and inventory management. In time and worldwide distributed availability of spare parts is the success factor in spare parts business. An optimization of spare parts systems under this frame conditions requires new methodologies. A new model and software implementation supports this complex task. © GITO Verlag.
