Regaining loggers of migrating bats is demanding due to their unpredictable behavior. This publication introduces an automatic system that is able to detect respective loggers and download their measurement data for further evaluation. A custom protocol for communicating in the European 868MHz short-range device (SRD) band was developed that enables an adaptive data rate between 9.6 and 500kbit/s. The base station is powered by a solar panel for energy-autonomous operation over months. A daily status report is sent via GPRS to a database server automatically. Furthermore, raw measurement data is transferred and distributed to all stations. Seven base stations were set up in a forest area in July 2019 in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
