The results produced by a computer are in general fairly good approximations of the exact result; however, this need not be the case. The result calculated by the computer can, in fact, be randomly far from the true result, and results are sometimes even produced where in fact the given problem has no solution. The following presents different possibilities to calculate true results on a computer, i.e., results which are verified as correct, and introduces the relevant methods and explanations. The methods presented are of interest for mathematical application as well as for numerical application in technical engineering.
