Due to their high latent heat of fusion phase change materials allow the design of high capacity thermal energy storages that can be used for electronics cooling. A major challenge for efficient charging and discharging is the low thermal conductivity. A new approach to compensate this by the combination with thermally conductive frame-structures is presented in this work. According to newly developed design guidelines the frame-structures are customized for special cooling applications, which can be produced by selective laser melting.
