Carsharing services contribute to reducing private car ownership. Mobility hubs that are integrated into the public street space of densely populated residential neighborhoods, are equipped with reserved parking spaces for carsharing vehicles and considered a promising approach to strengthen carsharing and its effect on car ownership. Using the hvv switch-Punkte in Hamburg as an example, this article shows, by means of a representative survey of carsharing users, that conveniently located mobility hubs can considerably increase the impact of carsharing on car ownership.
