This study explores the relationship between network topology and dynamic behavior by addressing the phenomenon of multi-stability in complex systems. Utilizing a network of coupled nonlinear oscillators which collectively exhibit multistability, we investigate how the systems dynamics can be embedded into a network topology. This approach contrasts a structural network, given by the known geometrical coupling between individual oscillators, with a functional network inferred from system dynamics. The resulting dynamics-based networks show distinct structures depending on the system state.
