The configuration of the manufacturing control system is an important procedure to achieve the logistic objectives of a manufacturing. In the customer-order-related production, short and stable lead times are important objectives. Even in manufacturing systems with high product variety and complex material flows, the logistic objectives can be supported by a WIP (work in process) regulating order release and by sequencing the orders by the earliest due date.
