This thesis presents the process development for the biocatalytic reduction of prochiral ketones based on oxidoreductases. Conversion to the corresponding alcohols was catalyzed by an alcohol dehydrogenase ADH-'A' derived from Rhodococcus ruber DSM 44541. Results from the analysis of the thermodynamic equilibrium and the retention of the biocatalyst were successfully integrated into a continuously operated reactor system. Furhtermore, different methods for the non-invasive online-analysis of the reaction mixture composition were investigated.
