Nowadays, industrial companies are faced with a multitude of challenges. The developments of globalisation as well as the increased use of technology are considerably intensifying the competitive environment. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to fundamentally change entire markets, industries, business activities and also business models. A particular factor is the cooperation between AI and the employed person. AI-supported work systems can be very multifaceted in their scope of application. In addition, there is also the possibility that certain capabilities of humans and machines complement and reinforce each other. This paper develops a morphology of industrial AI-based work systems that describes the collaboration between AI and humans from a socio-technical perspective.
