This review of the book of Sascha Ott: Information : zur Genese und Anwendung eines Begriffs (Konstanz : UVK Verl.-Ges., 2004) sees concepts like information, communication, media and knowledge as heaviliy and in a mulitfaceted way used key concepts of our time which provoke philosophical discussions over and over. A characteristic of the concept of information is, that its reality will be defined in a plausible and helpful but often controversial way in the context of a specific discipline. For the reviewer information cannot be viewed isolated from other related concepts like communication, knowledge etc.
