Procedures for the direct determination of Cd, Cu and Ni concentrations in the Elbe River estuary are presented which base on Zeeman-background correcture and matrix modification.
Investigations showed good results with concentrations in the µg/l-range. Detection of Ni in seawater was impossible without matrix modification. The advantages of direct determination are useful detection limits, high precision and short time in anlysis. The detection limits were 0.1 µg/l for Cd, and 1 µg/l for Cu and Ni.
