This empirical work examines the spatial process of demographic change, that has been coined reurbanization, and its effects on transport. It aims to assess reurbanization from a transport-planning perspective and to draw conclusions on how these processes should be formed by urban planning. The empirical basis of the work comprises a quantitative analysis of official statistics from the german city-regions of Hamburg and Leipzig and a qualitative analysis regarding the transport behavior of people from Hamburg who drive the reurbanization prozesses.
