I hold a Ph.D. in Human Geography from the Universidade de Lisboa (Lisbon, 2003) with a thesis on the politics of memory, cultural heritage, and urban space. I'm currently Associate Professor at Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território (IGOT), Universidade de Lisboa. My research interests are clustered around heritage and material culture, post-industrial cities and urban regeneration, and the cultural landscapes of tourism and leisure. I'm presently working on the geographies of abandonment, ruinscapes and vacant land in cities.
