It is widely used in radio low-power wide area networks (LPWANs). In preliminary publications, we developed a FSCM-based acoustic underwater transmitter and receiver. In most of the cases, the performance was studied in simulations. In this paper, we evaluate our differential FSCM implementation in different real-world scenarios with static and mobile communication links. First, we give an introduction of FSCM and describe the effect of the acoustic underwater transmission channel on FSCM symbols. Afterwards, we present challenging real-world transmission channels and study the communication performance. We show that our implementation can track and compensate Doppler shifts, is stable against multipath propagation and resilient in scenarios with low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).enPhysicsPractical evaluation of differential frequency shift chirp modulation for acoustic underwater communicationConference Paper10.1145/3631726.3631740Conference Paper
