Therefore, it has to be considered that different organizational structures exist, each with different characteristics. Some of these characteristics favor the introduction of agility, while others make it difficult or even impossible. In the context of this contribution, essential characteristics of agile organizational structures are identified and four different, established forms of organization are considered. The characteristics of agile organizational structures basically exist in every organizational structure, but the type of characteristics is decisive in how far the organizational structure favors or hinders the introduction of agility.
