He focused on the areas of artificial intelligence, cognitive systems as well as soft computing. During his diploma thesis at the Collaborative Research Center: Cognitive Systems (TR/8) he dealt with an analysis of measures of uncertainty for the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory. Since January 2009, Mr. Rippel is a research scientist at the BIBA - Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH. During his work he focussed on the modelling and simulation of logistic processes as well as of production processes.
