The operating range of the terminal is first characterised as an uncertainty region around a linear nominal model using the operating points of a non-linear model. The performance and robustness of controllers designed using the two methods and the effects of approximations in the uncertainty region definition are then described and compared. The best trade-off between robustness and performance on the non-linear model is demonstrated to be achieved using the robust H₂ method.
