It makes use of a Fourier-Laplace series and requires a low number of expansion coefficients, only. Symmetries can be included to impose special geometries or to further reduce the number of coefficients. The efficiency of the approach enables a fast optimization of the surface. This is particularly useful for electrically small lenses. Three exemplary lens designs based on different specifications are obtained through optimization. The manufacturing is discussed and the radiation characteristics are explored and validated through measurements.en0016-1136Frequenz20151-22937dielectric lens antennaDLAFourier-Laplace seriesshaped beamsurface descriptionA flexible surface description for arbitrarily shaped dielectric lens antennasJournal Article10.1515/freq-2014-0124Other
