The model describes the viral load, concentrations of healthy and infected CD4+- T-cells and CD8+-T-cells in blood. Processes of death, birth, and infection are regarded, as well as infection inhibition and control processes for cell concentrations of the immune system. The main difference between HIV and other infections can then be interpreted in terms of the internal coupling structure. The parameters of the model are estimated with the help of clinical data. A method to predict the effect of medication, based on a measurement of initial cell concentrations before therapy begins, is presented. © Oldenbourg Verlag.de2196-677XAT Automatisierungstechnik200310462470De GruyterAntiretroviral therapyHIV infectionImmune systemNonlinear modellingTechnikMedizinIngenieurwissenschaftenModellierung der mittleren Phaseder HIV-Infektion unter MedikationModelling the middle phase of HIV infection during medicationJournal Article10.1524/auto.51.10.462.19575Journal Article
