Fluid Mechanics and Its Applications 128: 643-644 (2021)http://hdl.handle.net/11420/10119After six years of research, new methods are available to get deeper insights into the interplay between chemical reactions and fluid dynamics. It has been shown that adjusting the local fluid dynamics in bubble wakes can offer promising opportunities for optimizing the yield and selectivity of competitive-consecutive reactions. Nevertheless, it became clear that more fundamental research is necessary in future. More sophisticated experimental and numerical methods with high spatial and temporal resolution are necessary, to discover the influences of fluid dynamics on yield and selectivity and bridge the scales to chemical engineering. However, the results from this priority program impressively demonstrate the great potential of close collaboration between process engineers and chemists. The new methods developed in this collaborative program may pave the way for a more sustainable chemical production in future.enFurther Demand in Fundamental ResearchBook Part10.1007/978-3-030-72361-3_25Book Chapter
