Therefore, the intelligent wing uses a high number of dynamic control surfaces. In particular for the design of active maneuver and gust load control functions and their evaluation, the unsteady aerodynamic effect of dynamic control surface deflections play a major role. For transport aircraft in transonic flight, this is especially true, as the phase shift between the control surface deflection and the aerodynamic effect due to the translational movement of shock waves significantly influences the controller design and its overall potential for load reduction. In this paper, an efficient model structure is proposed with which the unsteady aerodynamic effect of dynamic control surface deflections can be predicted.
