Finished her high school studies in the same village and went to University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 1988. Graduated in 1993 and, in May of 1995, won a position as Assistant for teaching in the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra (www.uc.pt; http://www.uc.pt/fctuc/deq). Finished her MSc studies in 1999 and her PhD in 2008, both in Chemical Engineering at University of Coimbra. The PhD degree gave her opportunity to occupy a position of Professor in the same university, which has been her main profession until now. During her teaching career, the research activities were always on the top of her priorities, thus she is an integrated researcher at the Chemical Process Engineering and Forest Products Research Centre (CIEPQPF - http://www.uc.pt/fctuc/deq/ciepqpf/), in the University of Coimbra, since 1998, where she belongs to the Computing and Materials (CeM) group.
