Research has to acknowledge that, in the wake of digitization, media industries are moving into a new era of organizational forms. This chapter focuses on relatively recent and emerging organizations, characterized by three trends: projectification, peer production, and platformization. Taking the news industry as an example, illustrative cases are presented and discussed against the backdrop of the twentieth century’s industrial production mode of news. These developments are evaluated in terms of opportunity and risk. The chapter ends with directions for future research on new organizational forms in media industries.enMedia organizationsNews industryProjectificationPeer productionPlatformizationLibrary and Information SciencesEconomicsNews media, journalism, publishingChange management and new organizational forms of content creationBook part10.1007/978-3-030-86680-8_21Other
