A simple and fast synthesis method is developed. The taper is modeled as a nonuniform transmission line with varying waveguide characteristics. These are determined using a transverse resonance method (TRM), which is extended to calculate a characteristic impedance. The synthesis procedure is explained and the results are compared to full-wave simulation. Measurement results of compact, ultra-wideband, and low-loss tapers at K/Ka-band validate the concept.en0149-645xIEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium digest2017715718MultilayerSIWTaper synthesisTRMNovel multilayer SIW tapers synthesized using an extended transverse resonance methodConference Paper10.1109/MWSYM.2017.8058674Other
