It consists of an extended hemispherical dielectric lens that is fed by a square substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) and therefore offers a low-cost alternative to horn antennas. The design procedure is explained, and the antenna performance is presented. A sophisticated test fixture is developed to excite the square SIW.
