In addition the institute provides services for customers, in particular material testing. Furthermore the institute participates in the formation of standards and guidelines in its fields of research and teaching. The research interests of the institute can be described as: Corrosion and durability of materials and structures, special and high performance materials, test methods for materials and components, connections between composition, structure and properties of the unprocessed materials, during processing and as hardened building materials, as well as energy saving, construction and environment.Das Institut für Baustoffe, Bauphysik und Bauchemie erfüllt als wissenschaftliche Einrichtung der TU Hamburg Aufgaben in der Forschung und Lehre, insbesondere in den Bereichen Baustoffe, Bauphysik, Baukonstruktion und Bauchemie. Das Institut führt außerdem im Auftrag von Kunden Dienstleistungen insbesondere im Bereich der Materialprüfung durch und beteiligt sich in Bereichen, die in Zusammenhang mit der Forschung und Lehre des Instituts stehen, an der Erarbeitung von Normen und Richtlinien. Die Forschungsinteressen des Instituts lassen sich gliedern in: Korrosion und Dauerhaftigkeit von Baustoffen, Baustoffverbünden und Bauteilen, Spezial- und Hochleistungsbaustoffe, Prüfverfahren für Baustoffe und Bauteile, Zusammenhänge zwischen Zusammensetzung, Gefüge, Verarbeitungs- und Gebrauchseigenschaften beim Übergang vom unverarbeiteten Baustoff über den Verarbeitungszustand zum erhärteten Material sowie Energieeinsparung, Bauen und Umwelt.tuhhinstitute
