However, the use of enzymes for organic synthesis represents a multiparameter challenge. Development of efficient enzymatic reactions necessitates careful evaluation of three parameters: (i) reaction of interest (solubility of substrates/products, reaction medium, thermodynamic equilibrium), (ii) biocatalyst (activity, stability, substrate/product inhibition), and (iii) process (catalyst preparation, reactor type, operation mode).
