Institution Wastewater Management and Water Protection B-2As an international pioneer, the institute conducts research on resource-oriented wastewater systems with recovery of water, nutrients and soil substrates. Further focal points are the elimination of micro-pollutants in wastewater treatment plants as well as water-appropriate and climate-regulating regenerative agriculture for Central Europe and beyond. The Group “Bioresource Management” conducts research on topics related to the combined material and energetic utilization of residual bioresources in interdisciplinary projects with region-specific implementation. These topics are complemented by "Environmental Robotics".Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Ship Design and Ship Safety M-6Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Innovation Marketing W-3Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Security Analysis E-EXK1 (H)Type: Former TUHH Organizational UnitInstitution Advanced Ceramics M-9Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Ship Structural Design and Analysis M-10Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Continuum and Materials Mechanics M-15Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Business Logistics and General Management W-2Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Mathematics E-10Director:; Director: ; Director: ; Director: ; Director: Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Medical Technology and Intelligent Systems E-1The Institute of Medical Technology and Intelligent Systems at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) was established in fall 2013. Our research focuses on medical robotics, image guidance, soft tissue navigation, treatment planning and machine learning. Also, our group has more than 20 years of practical experience with artificial intelligence methods in medicine. We collaborate with a number of clinical partners, research groups, and medical technology companies, in Europe, the U.S., and China.Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Metal and Composite Structures B-8The objectives of the scientific work at the Institute of Metal and Composite Structures are, on the one hand, early detection and localization of degradation in metal structures through acoustic methods and, on the other hand, tailored development of nano- and microstructured hybrid metals aiming at a delay of degradation and understanding of material mechanisms across length scales. The societal impact is increase of lifetime and operational readiness of metal infrastructure at reduced maintenance costs.Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Telecommunications E-8Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Operations Research and Information Systems W-4Research at the Institute for Operations Research and Information Systems (W-4) is dedicated to the area of Operations Research, a quantitatively oriented field of Management Science. In particular, the focus is on the development of quantitative models and the use of quantitative methods and highly developed algorithms to solve management planning problems. Particular attention is paid to problems from the field of logistics, e.g. routing optimization for trucks or berth allocation planning in ports. Another important research area of the Institute is the application of OR methods in the field of energy systems and energy markets, e.g. for the optimal control of decentralized producers and consumers.Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Security in Distributed Applications E-15 (H)Director:Type: Former TUHH Organizational UnitInstitution Structural Dynamics M-14Dynamics Group - Institute for Structural Dynamics We focus on complex system dynamics. One research field is complex dynamics in machines and structures, which we analyze through network, complexity and machine learning methods. A second field is nonlinear wave physics, including ocean rogue waves. A third field is highly efficient physics based computing in engineering. All our work is conducted with national and international partners. Prof. Hoffmann, who directs the group, is also a visiting professor at Imperial College London.Director:Type: TUHH WorkinggroupInstitution Institute of Technology and Society W-5 (H)Former institution of the TUHH, closed 2012.Type: Former TUHH Organizational UnitInstitution Technology and Innovation Management W-7Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Water Resources and Water Supply B-11Safe and reliable water resources and water supply are a matter of course for us in Germany. This is possible because of a high level of technical know-how, constant innovation and sustainable management. We conduct research on and teach these topics at the Institute. The safeguarding of raw water quality, water treatment and distribution as well as microbiological aspects and energy efficiency of water supply are our central topics. Together with the affiliated DVGW Research Centre TUHH, we maintain laboratories and test facilities for this purpose. Thus, practical questions come directly to the university and water utilities benefit from science and technical innovations. We cordially invite you to get to know our fields of work, research projects, courses and, of course, our staff better on the following pages. Have we aroused your interest? The team of the Institute B-11 and the DVGW Research Centre TUHH is looking forward to the exchange.Director:Type: TUHH InstituteInstitution Reliable Computing E-19 (H)Director:Type: Former TUHH Organizational Unit
