Flying towards a new climate strategy at Copenhagen Airport
Denmark’s busy Copenhagen Airport launched an ambitious climate strategy in 2019. The plan is for the airport to become emission-free with emission-free transport to and from its premises by 2030. By 2050, it will be entirely free of CO2 emissions from the airport itself, air traffic, companies operating in the airport and land traffic to and from the airport. Assisting in this eco-transformation, the EU-funded ALIGHT project will develop two solutions. The first is the supply, implementation, integration and smart use of sustainable aviation fuel. The second is the development and implementation of a smart energy system. The project will address the full chain from system mapping and energy supply to passenger transport and the heating and cooling of buildings.
