Computational models for cavitation are still considered to be immature. In order to enhance the predictive reliability, further validation based on more comprehensive experimental data is required. On behalf of Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), several series of cavitation tests have been carried out in the Medium Cavitation Tunnel of the Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA, www.hsva.de). The investigations were concerned with cavitation measurements for a NACA0015-profile at different angles of attack and cavitation numbers. These tests were performed under the aegis of the WERNER SUTOR FOUNDATION and designed to supply a data basis for the validation of computational approaches to model cavitation.
The tests were performed in the medium cavitation tunnel of the HSVA. Further details can be obtained from the web-pages of the HSVA (cf. Test Facilities). The illustration of the test set-up is designed to support the build-up of a computational domain for a computational validation exercise.
