M03.006 Content of free fat by Soxhlet extraction
The content of free fat in samples is determined by solvent extraction. Therefore, a homogenised amount of sample is extracted by boiling it with petroleum benzine (boiling range 40-60°C) for six hours in a Soxhlet apparatus. After evaporation of solvent, the content of fat in sample is determined gravimetrically.
