This paper presents a fully integrated simultaneous inductive data and power transfer system with improved data rate and real-time capabilities. The inductive data link is built with a remote radio head plus host processor for waveform processing and a frequency multiplexing filter. To improve the inductive data link performance, the use of higher-order modulation and the increase of effective bandwidth is researched. The key system design parameters to achieve this and its implementation will be presented in this paper. It will be shown that reliable and fast communication is possible to make inductive power transfer systems smart grid ready.
