In 2025, the TU Hamburg University Library (TUB) successfully completed its staff restructuring as part of the generational change, took fundamental steps in the area of spatial development and successfully acquired third-party funding. Seven positions were filled, ranging from central support functions such as administrative coordination to a software developer who contributes to the sustainable further development of central open source products. In November, after long preparatory work, the Open Library was put into operation: Thanks to automated admission control, the library can now be used 96 hours a week. A concept for a possible redesign of the library has also been developed. Among other things, this provides for a significantly higher number of workstations that support various learning scenarios. A successful application led to the acquisition of DFG funding to relieve the publication fund for the years 2026/2027.
