The emergence of large language models and the generative artificial intelligence (AI) behind them has heralded a paradigm shift that will have a particular impact on the education sector. Both the early inclusion of AI and the associated skills development are essential in order to prepare prospective teachers for these challenges by dealing with risks and thinking together about recommendations for action. The aim of the course discussed in this article was to identify seminar content that would prepare students for the use and incorporation of generative AI in work, careers and education and promote their skills through realistic application scenarios and application references. This article therefore centres on the question of which key topics are needed to give prospective teachers an introduction to the topic of AI and prepare them for working with AI tools in practice.
