Real-time capable vehicle dynamics simulations are used for a wide range of ECU development and control algorithms. The multi-body simulations used in the process neglect elastic deformations that are becoming more important due to lightweight construction and increased NVH requirements in vehicle technology. In the present work, algorithms for the efficient simulation of flexible multi-body systems with the application example of a vehicle dynamics model with a flexible vehicle body are shown. Linear-implicit solvers for differential-algebraic systems and quaternions are used as efficient rotational parametrization. Using model reduction methods, complex finite element models are implemented in real-time.
