Batch workstations handle multiple orders simultaneously and can therefore achieve high output rates. At the same time, they lead to high work in process levels and long throughput times. This thesis investigates the influence of batch workstations on the logistic objectives. A deductive-experimental approach is used to derive the output rate and the throughput time as a function of the work in process level. In addition, the thesis investigates the influence of the batch generation on lateness. The modeling enables industrial companies to position themselves in the system of conflicting objectives for production logistics.
